Key Partners
The Ministry of Ayush is organizing the summit in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Government of Maharashtra, and other key stakeholders. This partnership aims to enhance medical tourism in India, focusing on traditional healing methods and wellness practices.
Ministerial Remarks
During the inauguration, Minister Jadhav emphasized the role of Ayush in addressing health issues like diabetes and liver diseases through evidence-based treatments. He highlighted the government’s commitment to providing free Ayush treatments for employees and establishing affordable Ayush centers at block and tehsil levels.
Initiatives and Future Plans of Ayush Medical Value Travel Summit 2024
A nationwide initiative, “Women’s Health Check,” aims to promote health awareness through Ayurveda. Following the 2024 summit in Mumbai, additional events are planned in Bhubaneswar and a grand finale in Delhi. The aim is to reach one crore households with the initiative “Desh ka Prakrutik Parikshan – Ghar Ghar tak Ayurved” on Ayurveda Day.
AYUSH-Based Tourism
The Ministry of Ayush signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Tourism to promote AYUSH and medical value travel. State governments are encouraged to collaborate with tourism departments to enhance Ayurvedic wellness travel. With an increasing number of foreign travelers seeking Ayush treatments, it is crucial for all stakeholders, including tour operators and insurance providers, to work together to leverage government initiatives.
Number Game
In rural India, awareness about Ayush ranges from 87% to 99% across all states and Union Territories (UTs), except for Arunachal Pradesh, which stands at 77%. In urban India, awareness exceeds 86% across all states and UTs. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has issued new guidelines mandating health insurance companies to cover AYUSH treatments on par with other medical treatments. Currently, about 49 life insurance companies are offering approximately 69 packages for AYUSH treatments.
